Out exploring after a beautiful morning with Mawambul at Mt Sugarloaf, learning to see the land differently
Hi {{ first_name | default: "there" }},
I used to think I was holding a high standard. Really, I was just correcting everything before anyone else got the chance to.

A report would land on my desk and I'd rewrite half of it before it even went out. I told myself it was about quality. It wasn't. It was about control.

This week I'm looking at the flip side of last week's rescuing trap: the critical, controlling default that feels like leadership but quietly costs your team their confidence. Everything's below, plus a question worth sitting with.
?
REFLECTION QUESTION
“Are you correcting the method, or clarifying the outcome?”
★
THIS WEEK'S TIP
Before you touch someone's work, ask yourself: is this actually wrong, or just not how I'd have done it?
”
QUOTE I'M SITTING WITH
“Stop correcting the method. Start clarifying the outcome.” — from this week's episode
This week, from me to you

The leadership trap that looks like kindness
Coaching · Speaking · The Leadership Mirror · Contact   Some days the work isn't leading, it's remembering not to carry what was never mine to carry. Hi {{ first_name | default: "there" }}, You care about your team. You're available, you're hands-on, and when someone comes to you with a problem, you help. That's not the issue. The issue is what "helping" has quietly turned...

Coaching · Speaking · The Leadership Mirror · Contact   Pre-sunrise walk, wearing my heart on my face Hi {{ first_name | default: "there" }}, Three weeks ago, we talked about the leadership skill most people ignore. Two weeks ago, the exact moments it shows up in. Last week, the one habit that actually shifts it in the room. This month has had a name the whole time. It...
The EQ habit that actually changes how people respond to you
Coaching · Speaking · The Leadership Mirror · Contact   Celebrating my mum's 80th birthday this week, she taught me the pause long before I had a word for it Hi {{ first_name | default: "there" }}, This week I celebrated my mum's 80th birthday. Watching her move through a room full of people, unhurried, never rushing to get her point across, I found myself thinking ab...
